Cotton Bowl – Notre Dame vs Clemson UNDER 57

255 Notre Dame/Clemson UNDER 57

My number for this game is 52.32, so anything above key number 55 would have some value.

Statistically these will be the best defenses either team has faced this season.

Notre Dame is allowing 17.25 points per game against teams that average 27.36 points per game (-10.11) and they’ve held all 12 teams they’ve played under their offensive season average.

Clemson is allowing 14.25 points per game against teams that average 29.57 points per game (-15.32) and they’ve held 11 of 12 FBS teams below their offensive season average, including 9 by double digits.

The only top-40 FEI defense Clemson faced this season was Syracuse, which gave the Tigers some real issues and knocked Trevor Lawrence out of the game. Notre Dame comes in eighth in defensive FEI.

If the Irish can slow down the Clemson run game, freshman QB Trevor Lawrence will be put to the test … his first real test of the season.

Clemson will be without defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who failed a drug test last week. Lawrence’s absence is huge because of how good he’s been against the run this year. Notre Dame likes to run the ball, and I believe they’ll lean on their run game today in order to take pressure off of QB Ian Book and limit his exposure against the ferocious pass rush of Christian Wilkins and Clelin Ferrell.

I don’t believe either team sees 30 points.
