Tennessee Volunteers 2013 Spring Review

The Derek Dooley era at Tennessee came to an end last November when he was dismissed after posting a 15-21 record in his three-year tenure with the Vols, the longest stretch of futility for the storied program since 1911. New head coach Butch Jones and the Volunteers started spring practice on March 9. Evan Woodbery of Go Vols Extra helps us out with our Tennessee Volunteers 2013 spring preview.

Tennessee was doomed from the start last year as they didn’t have
the athletes to run that defense. That’s a very tough defense to learn & implement you have to have athletes like Alabama & each player has a big responsibility. I look for Tn. to maybe have one upset this year as their schedule is very tough but under Jones I think they will be much more disciplined this year & in 2-3 years I look for 100% improvement over the past 5 brutal years they have experienced.

Gruden was never in the running as a HC @ Tn. that was just all the TN. fans wishful thinking & no more than just a rumor. I think out of the 3 coaches that Jones was the best fit for Tn. & he is doing a awesome job so far in recruiting as I saw the other day where Tn. was ranked #1 in the nation in recruiting which was a very nice surprise to me anyways. I think if Tn. fans & alumni will be patient & give Jones a chance he could be the one to turn this program around & could possibly have a long career at Tn. Well that’s my 2 cents for the time being & very subject to change lol.

I would also like to say that the Saturday Edge is a awesome site with many good cappers with tons of information. Good luck to all this Football season.
