Miami finished the 2012 season with a 7-5 record and in a three way tie for place first in the ACC Coastal Division, but were ineligible to play in the ACC Championship game or postseason due to a self-imposed postseason ban. Head coach Al Golden and the Hurricanes begin spring practice tomorrow, March 2. John Lea of the Miami blog State of the U breaks down the Hurricanes for us in our Miami 2013 spring preview.

  1. Coach CB says:

Canes just lost a LB who is considered a “returning starter”.

This is a mixed bag. They have not recruited as well as they used to, so these returning starters are middle of the road (“3-star” athletes for the most part). Can they develop into 4-star players? Who knows. But, much like FSU, they play in a weak, weak conference…so w/ the return of 19 or so starters, they should be a solid 9-3 type of team. The Florida game will answer a lot of questions.
