Jimmyshivers Week 11 ACC Football picks

In week 10 I easily hit my first 5 unit play of the season (UVA +14), and this week  there are two games that I really like just as much.  Week 10 was a disappointing one overall as my other ACC plays struggled, but a very strong week for my spreadsheet plays saved me.  Overall I went 5-6 to lose a few units, but all in all I was pretty happy with my process.  Looking forward to a very strong Week 11 in the ACC.

UNC -5.5 at home is an absolute steal.

Couldn’t believe BOL hung that one out there, they didn’t move it either until 5D and BM put their lines out a few hours later. Great match-up for UNC’s defense; their front 7 is stout, and they got an extra week to prep for that option offense. Georgia Tech should really struggle up front with UNC’s offensive line and of course, Gio Bernard. I made this one UNC -13 and still leaned UNC, so 5.5 was an instant grab at their max limits. I’ll have buyback options here but probably won’t take them

BetOnline.com is a good book to have, their the first book to post lines, they usually come out around 4:30 – 4:45 Sunday afternoon. I posted the games I played on twitter when I bet them. It was 5.5 on BOL for about an hour. They have 500 dollar limits on these bets but that is not a big issue for me, I’m not looking to put more than 5 dimes on any game. When the other books open their numbers is when you see these lines move. At the current 9/9.5 UNC would be a 4-unit play for me. At 10 or above it is only a standard 3-unit play.

I’m not sure how you can have so much confidence in UVA who was 0-8 ATS coming into last week and got 5 turnovers from NC State to pull off the upset. Now, UVA has beaten Miami two years in a row, but Miami actually has something to play for this year and had some extra time to prepare coming off the Thursday night game. But you seem to be on the sharp side here which will scare me away. Good Luck. Nice get at +3 too.

UVA didn’t need 5 turnovers to cover, but getting 5 turnovers against a team their roughly equal to = blowout victory. Both teams have something to play for, Miami has a great shot at the ACC title game (especially with the VT loss) but UVA is also playing for bowl eligibility. The Wahoos started 0-3-1 ATS last year before rallying for a 6-2 ATS finish after their bye week. I’m of the opinion that they’ve made similar adjustments. More than finally getting into the positive turnover side of the ledger last week, what really impressed me was that they finally found a way to run the ball. They have the pieces for a power running game if they stay healthy and Miami has really struggled with stopping the run this year.

It’s a big play because UVA at +3 was really undervalued to me and Miami is extremely overvalued in my opinion. I like to press when/where I can see value. Best of luck this weekend Kevin, I appreciate the question

I’m on the “fade miami” bandwagon too…also on wake/nc st under 51 in the acc

    good luck

Really see Wake struggling to consistently move the chains. Scariest thing about the under is the Wolfpack’s propensity to give up big plays. It’s a rare match-up in this league this year when State actually has better athletes across the board, so hopefully the secondary plays like they care this week.

Sorry Bill Parcells, Miami isn’t who their record says they are. Canes have had an incredible run of circumstances to get them where they are. They’ve definitely improved but this team is not good enough to be road chalk in Charlottesville. Hope we are right. BOL this weekend trent

Looks like a very solid card Jimmy. I also put a half unit each on Texas A&M and BYU…BOL today

You caused me to give Nevada a second look after your write-up GS, and I wound up adding it. I like that one a good deal, thanks for showing me the light in Reno. BOL today, my friend
