2021 SEC Football Pick of the Week: Week Eight

Ridiculous.

That’s all I’m going to say about Florida’s performance against LSU last Saturday.

Pitiful.

OK. I lied. I’ll cover Todd Grantham very briefly in a bit as well, but for now the Gators’ loss moves us down to 5-3 on the year in our pick of the week segment here at DSE.

I’m at a loss for words, so we’re just going to move on.

Week eight…

SEC Pick of the Week: LSU at No. 12 Ole Miss (-9.5), 3:30pm ET on CBS.

Both teams are coming off emotional wins, LSU over Florida and Ole Miss over Tennessee, and it’s likely that one of these two teams will play sloppy.

My guess? It’ll be LSU.

Their head coach is a lame duck, their into their third line of depth and their playing on the road.

Ole Miss on the other hand has Matt Corral playing at a high level and they are at home.

And never forget they’ve got Lane Kiffin calling the shots. He’s got a killer instinct. Which they’ll likely need to put LSU away.

I think they do. By at least two touchdowns.

Upset alert: Tennessee at No. 4 Alabama (-25), 7:00pm ET on ESPN.

As always, I don’t think that the Volunteers can win this game but I think that there’s a chance they can cover here.

A late touchdown or two when the game is out of reach, boom, backdoor cover. The Vols are playing good football, some of their best in years.

Alabama needs to impress the CFP committee so they’ll be ready to go. But we’ll see how this plays out.

Keep an eye on: Mississippi State (-20.5) at Vanderbilt, 4:00pm ET on SECN.

The Bulldogs have the Air Raid and the Commodores have, well, a big anchor on their campus.

The ‘Dores are the worst team in the SEC this season and it’s highly unlikely that they can keep up with the Bulldogs offense.

This one could get out of hand early and stay that way. But the Bulldogs aren’t known for the defense. If Vanderbilt is to stay in this game that’s their in. Let’s see if they can do it.

Trending up: Will Anderson.

A four sack performance last weekend against South Carolina just basically reinforces the fact that it’s either him or Georgia’s Jordan Davis for SEC DPOTY.

Trending down: Tennessee fans.

This should honestly be in a whole other category. I’ve long considered Vol fans to be the most ridiculous in the SEC and their actions on Saturday against Ole Miss just confirms it.

A 20-minute delay because a call was confirmed (ruled stands, by the referee) by replay caused by hundreds of fans throwing everything they could get their hands on onto the field with just under a minute to go.

And I mean everything.

Water bottles, mustard bottles, pizza boxes, beer cans, golf balls and popcorn, among many other items.

What idiot takes a golf ball to a football game? AND THEIR TEAM STILL HAD A CHANCE TO WIN!!!

Idiots. The whole lot of them.

Trending down II: Todd Grantham.

As of this writing he hasn’t been fired. Why?
