2020 SEC Football Pick of the Week – Week Twelve

Mississippi State Football 2013 Spring Wrap Up

That’s how it’s supposed to be done.

The Florida Gators destroyed the Arkansas Razorbacks 63-35 and covered the spread as a result. Not only did the win move the Gators one game closer to clinching the SEC East title, it also moved us to 4-6 on the year.

Always forward, never back.

Week Twelve…

SEC Pick of the Week: Mississippi State (+25) at No. 13 Georgia, 7:30pm ET on SECN.

It seems like it’s been a couple of years since an upset was selected as the pick of the week.

Mississippi State hasn’t played well of late but neither has Georgia. Georgia might even be (finally) starting JT Daniels at quarterback. And that move is much needed.

The Georgia defense is still banged up but not nearly to the extent they were against Florida a couple of weeks ago. This game just feels like Mississippi State keeps it close.

Call it a gut feeling. As they say in College Gameday, Georgia wins but closer than the experts think.

Upset Alert: LSU (-1) at Arkansas, 12:00pm ET on SECN.

Somehow this game has swung in the other direction. Opening with Arkansas favored by two, now LSU is slightly favored.

How? Why?

It just doesn’t make any sense. LSU could very well win but Arkansas deserves to be favored here. They’ve been playing better football this year.

It also wouldn’t surprise me if the Hogs take this one. Woo Pig.

Keep an eye on: No. 6 Florida (-31) at Vanderbilt, 12:00pm ET on ESPN.

I actually feel a little bad for Vanderbilt.

It just feels like the SEC has led them like lambs to the slaughter all year. They probably don’t deserve to go winless this year but 2020 just is what it is.

The Gators are rolling and this could get ugly. My only concern is the 31 points they’re giving up here. They’ll win big, but will it be enough to cover once the third-string enters the game?

Trending up: Heisman finalists.

At this point it’s pretty clear that the SEC will have at least two Heisman finalists this year.

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones and Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. Jones has led the Alabama attack extremely well and Trask has continued to set record after record.

It’s looking more and more like whichever one leads their team to victory in the SEC Championship Game, provided neither loses before then, has the edge.

Trending down: Covid-19.

For like what feels like the 37th week in a row, another game has been postponed due to the virus. This time it’s the Ole Miss and Texas A&M game. I’m ready for this virus to be over.
