2018 SEC Pick of the Week – Week Eleven

That’s how we finish a week folks.

Despite the Texas A&M Aggies falling short of victory against the Auburn Tigers by a score of 28-24, the Aggies at least covered the six-point spread.

As predicted, the Georgia Bulldogs humiliated the Kentucky Wildcats in an epic you’re still Kentucky LOL thrashing. The final score of 34-17 doesn’t

With both those wins we are finally back to .500 this year with a 6-6 record. It also pushes our overall record to 31-21 since the beginning of 2015.

As for the other picks:

I told you to be careful Gators – and those picking them. I don’t know what it is about Missouri in The Swamp but it just never seems to end well. A 38-17 loss isn’t all that shocking. Like I said in the preview, been there done that.

Note to Florida: Stop scheduling Missouri on homecoming. Thank you.

Alabama and LSU, yeah, I know I said weird things happen at night in Baton Rouge, but still …

… THIS ALABAMA TEAM IS POSSIBLY THE GREATEST TEAM EVER.

And that might be in any sport.

As I said last week, I still think the 1995 Nebraska team is the greatest I’ve ever seen but this Alabama team is close.

And I mean close.

They’ve got to just finish the deal.

So, week eleven…

SEC Pick of the Week: No. 24 Auburn at No. 5 Georgia (-14), 7:00pm ET on ESPN.

One week after clinching the SEC East the Bulldogs take on Auburn in the Sweep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

Auburn isn’t really Auburn this year – though the same could be said for Georgia, kinda – and they needed an all-time come back last weekk to eek out their win.

Georgia is back on track to a possible playoff trip, provided they win out.

It starts here. In a big way.

SEC Pick of the Week II: Vanderbilt at Missouri (-14), 12:00pm ET on SECN.

Let’s do this. Two picks again. I’m all in on Missouri rolling past an overmatched Commodore squad that just can’t ever seem to get on a roll.

Granted, both teams are at the bottom of the eastern division standings at 1-4 in conference play, tied with Tennessee but Missouri just seems better.

And they’ve got the advantage at quarterback in Drew Lock who will be one of the top quarterbacks taken in the NFL draft.

I just don’t see the Commodore defense slowing down the 28th best offense in the country in terms of points scored at just over 35 points per game.

Upset alert: No. 16 Mississippi State at No. 1 Alabama (-24), 3:30pm ET on CBS.

No, I don’t think the Bulldogs will win but Alabama cant blow everyone out of the water can they?

CAN THEY?!?

Keep an eye on: No. 11 Kentucky (-3.5) at Tennessee, 3:30pm ET on SECN.

Kentucky, with their loss to Georgia is now out of the SEC East race and Tennessee, well, they did beat Charlotte 14-3.

This has always been one of the more boring games on the SEC schedule – unless the Wildcats upset the Volunteers using a wide reciver at quarterback then it’s just funny.

That is true this year, minus the wide receiver at quarterback angle.

What’s also true: this game is on here solely for Wildcat letdown purposes.

Keep an eye on II: South Carolina at No. 15 Florida (-5.5), 12:00pm ET on ESPN.

Will the Gators stick with Feliepe Frank’s at quarterback or will they switch to Kyle Trawl who played well in relief of Frank’s against Missouri last Saturday?

Mullen isn’t saying anything as of yet, although this writer would have gone with Trawl at the beginning of the year. But we’ll see how things play out.

South Carolina has had a dissapointing season thus far and the Gatirs have a chance to add to their misery.

Trending up: SEC title game.

So it’s set.

Georgia vs. Alabama II.

Bring it on.

Oh, and if Georgia wins – somehow – they’ll be two SEC teams in the playoffs.

Trending down: Fisher and Mullen.

Florida is 6-3 and has now lost two in a row. Texas A&M is 5-4 and has also lost two games in a row. I think it’s fair to say that the shine has begin to come off for the two first-year head coaches.

Caveat though: Dan Mullen wasn’t ecpected to do much in year one (and as a Gators fan I’m OK with the year thus far just beat Florida State) but the same can’t be said Jimbo Fisher. That contact he was given, yeah, better win.
