(YTD  11-6  +6.75 units)

Panthers/Islanders:

The Florida Panthers will be looking to erase yesterday’s embarrassing outing at Madison Square Garden, as they cross the Hudson River into Brooklyn to face the New York Islanders.

Both teams are coming off three goal losses, and should be motivated here.

The New York Islanders, who were not highly rated coming into this season, sit at 3-4 right now. The main struggle however, has not been their lack of ability, but more so a very unfavorable schedule to start the season, as they have already had several large gaps in between games so far. For early season performances, this can hinder rhythm processes, and the Islanders appear to have had a hard time getting their legs going with all of these days off in between games. Today is no different, as they have not played a game in four nights. Also, in trying to get settled under a new system under veteran coach Barry Trotz, it may take longer than usual.

The Florida Panthers have been off to a disappointing start, and that would be an understatement. The team is essentially 1-7, despite being noticed as a playoff contender this season. The frustrating part about all of this, is that apart from the last outing against the Rangers, every game has been a one goal game. It seems as though the Panthers are playing hard, doing a lot of the right things, but just not being on the right side of the coin. With yesterday’s loss still fresh in their minds, expect Florida to come out guns blazing today.

With blown leads being the main concept with this Panthers team, expect them to be a little more responsible with an early lead too.
