Today is post Trade deadline day, with a full Tuesday of games. Yes, people are getting a little excited, as almost every team in action will be showcasing lineup additions.

Five of the nine games on board today have totals set at 6 and above, and a number of factors are involved in the nature of these settings. First off is the fact that there will be a number of backup goalies dressed today, particularly in the early slate of games. Another, is probably the bolstering of lineups plus some naturally high scoring matchup styles.

However, let’s keep in mind also that this is the mental part of the season, and that teams also need a few games to find chemistry. It should come to nobody’s surprise that the past couple first day after the trade deadlines have seen at least 65% of the games stay under.

Today, I expect the same obstacle, as many teams that should be expected to score a lot will likely have a harder time finding the back of the net. Also, every single game on board tonight involves at least one playoff contender, so there is no reason to believe that any of these games will be played loosely tonight.
