2012 College Football Win Totals – Notre Dame

Notre Dame won 8 regular season games last year, losing only to three top 10 teams (Michigan USC & Stanford) and their season opener to USF. Can Brian Kelley take the Irish to the next level and a BCS-bowl? The oddsmakers don’t seem to think so. They have set Notre Dame’s 2012 college football win totals at over 8 (-115) and under 8 (-125).
Thanks for the opportunity Saturday Edge to kick off some of the 2012 preview writing. I wrote at my own site in 2011 but my 2012 writing will be at the bigger, badder SubwayDomer.com if any Irish fans are interested.
They were referenced in this article, but when looking over the lines and projecting the schedule I must also point out that BYU is a 2011 10 win team that returns quite a few playmakers. They may match up as well with ND as anybody outside OU/USC. I’d take BYU +8.5 all day right now.
Steve, thanks for the detailed information on the Irish. I did edit out Steve’s BYU references. Here is what he wrote:
Michigan’s Denard Robinson has given ND fits for years and BYU’s Riley Nelson could be leading another 10 win team. Both provide massive challenges in home games.
and
BYU would be highlighted on most team’s schedules and with the questions on the Irish defense I’ll call it a toss-up as well. Miami is going through some things off the field, but if they’re going to get up for a game it will be prime time at Soldier Field and I wouldn’t bet on ND in this one either with much confidence.
Thanks for the follow up. I thought it was a great edit. Anyone who reads me knows I tend to be long winded on the Irish. Plenty of years of pent up non-blogging.
You’re right in it being pretty curious to see the Irish favored in 2 more games than Vegas is projecting them to win.
