What to consider when betting the “extra games” on the board

As bettors we have the advantage to bet any game we please and pass on any game we please. There’s plenty of opportunities when betting the extra games on the board but there are more things to consider, as with life we all no situation dictates.

– motivation
– travel
– next week’s game
– either team coming off a bye
– the ability of the fcs team to score even 1 touchdown is huge
– when the coach call’s the dogs off
– the star teams backup quarterback
– coaches mindset
– how often the star team blows out fcs teams on a yearly basis

So for this week’s slate of extra games only one game stood out to me.

Virginia Millitary at Virginia -41.5

Virginia comes off the bye, VMI comes off a game with north Greenville. VMI lost to Richmond by 34 on the opening week, I would consider Richmond almost a fbs team so we can start with the number 34 as a base line. In 2012 VMI lost to Richmond & navy by 38 & 42 points. Now on to Virginia they come off a bye after being bombed out by Oregon at home. Virginia is a strong tackling team with a strong defense, solid running game on offense and young inexperienced but talented quarterback. In 2012 Virginia beat Richmond by 24 points and in 2011 they beat William & Mary by 37 but struggled with lowly Idaho beating them in overtime by only 1 point.

So to recap what we’ve learned from past results Virginia doesn’t blow out fcs or borderline fbs teams by margin. VMI will play u tough but it’s unlikely tht they even score a touchdown against Virginia’s stout defense. However we have to consider how bad Virginia’s players really wanna play against lowly VMI. VMI on the other hand has to feel like this is the only time there coaches and players will ever be seen on a big scale again playing football.

My lean in this game is to Virginia Millitary (VMI) +41.5

As always remember “situation dictates”

Obviously there are a ton of factors that go into picking a winner, but who on earth has enough time or resources to utilize all of these attributes on each game… in order to find the best matchup?!?!?

Mr. Flash. Time is a very crucial factor in determining a winner, that’s what I believe separates the professional bettors from the casual bettors. The professional bettor never sleeps there always seeking that edge in the point spread. That’s why I believe in markets specialization for all bettors. So if u live in buffalo,ny u would probably know something that a guy in Nebraska wouldn’t know about the buffalo bills or the ub bulls.

I’m not sure I know what you mean by “lean.” When I use that word it means that I’m not going to play. Is the point of your writeup, “I’m not going to play VMI +41.5”?

If you’re going to be writing about these lower board teams each week I think that’s great, and I look forward to reading what you discover.
