2020 SEC Football Pick of the Week – Week Seven
Dios mío.
Do the offenses fly around in the greatest conference on earth these days or what?
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Texas A&M and Ole Miss all lit up the scoreboard on Saturday in something we’ve really never seen before.
On the wrong side though was our pick of the week. Texas A&M upset Florida 41-38 to bring our season record to 1-2 and our overall record since 2015 to 46-33. We’ll see what this weekend brings but man, 2020 is continuing to be a rough year.
Now for week seven…
SEC Pick of the Week: Ole Miss (-2.5) at Arkansas, 3:30pm ET on SECN.
The Lane Train is back.
The Rebels can and probably will put up 50+ points in this game on offense and while they struggle somewhat on defense there is no way that the Razorbacks come close to that.
Matt Corral might just be the perfect Lane Kiffin quarterback.
And he’s a California kid.
And he’s a gunslinger.
And the Rebels roll. Big.
Upset alert: Kentucky at No. 18 Tennessee (-6), 12:00pm ET on SECN.
Over the last decade or so this has been one of the better conference games. This year, with the way that the Wildcats are playing on defense, I foresee the Volunteers having an issue or two moving the football.
Kentucky has a great shot at winning this game outright, nevermind the points.
Keep an eye on: No. 3 Georgia at No. 2 Alabama (-4.5), 8:00pm ET on CBS.
I fully expect Alabama to win this game but with Nick Saban getting a positive Covid-19 test how will that change things?
I’m not so sure it does a whole lot. And besides, Saban will find a way to coach in this game. If anyone can figure it out, he’s the guy.
Alabama has the offense and Georgia has the defense. Should be a good game.
Trending up: The Mailman.
Stetson Bennett IV.
That’s it. That’s all there is to say.
Trending down: Florida and LSU and defense.
If offenses win games and defenses win championships, the Gators and Tigers are screwed. Neither team can tackle in space or cover a pass or stop the run.
Todd Grantham of Florida and Bo Pelini of LSU are two of the more respected defensive coordinators there are and they’ll probably get things going but will it be too late?
