Flames/Avalanche:

In today’s card, I did not find value in a whole much. However, in one of the closer match ups of the night, I think we may have a decent situation. 

The Calgary Flames stay within the Central Division, as they come off their 5-3 loss in St. Louis two nights ago, and into Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche tonight. This will be the hockey night in Canada game Two tonight, and Calgary should be well familiar with that mountain altitude. 

There has been a little bit of a buzz surrounding the Flames in their 2-2 start, and the biggest of which is Johnny Gaudreau already skating into danger in some of these early games. He has sustained a few slashes and big hits, particularly in the last game, and there has been concern regarding his durability (which he has shrugged off). The Flames appear to be a bit of a hit or miss team over the past few years, and this year’s start may in an indication that things will be no different. However, I do feel as though the team is getting adjusted the Bill Peters and his puck possession system. The Flames are currently in the top ten in puck possession, and may be getting better and better each game. Today will be a good rebound motivational opportunity to further improve. 

The Avalanche, on the other hand, are beaming with confidence in their 3-1 start to the season led by Nate MacKinnon and their young core of weapons. All of their games have been 3 or more goal differentials, and you can expect a run and gun type of vibe today. 

With the Avs pretty much just making a pit stop at home and about to head right back east again in a couple days, this might be a let down game for them while they are still on their high horse. 

The Calgary Flames will not play again for four days, so expect them to give it their all here as they conclude their mini trip.
