2018 SEC Pick of the Week – Week Three

Until the day I die I’ll swear that Seinfeld is the greatest television show of all-time. I don’t care what genre we’re talking about either. Sit-com, rom-com, drama, buddy cop show, it doesn’t matter.

Seinfeld is the greatest show ever. And it’s probably not even really all that close. It’s just perfectly acted, casted, directed and written.

Which leads me to…

George Costanza.

Without question the greatest character ever. Movie, television, probably in life, you name it. Nobody tops George.

And that one isn’t even up for debate. I won’t hear of it. Nobody is even in the same galaxy.

Which leads me to…

Elaine Benes.

Who is probably the best female character ever, but if you have an argument for someone else I’ll at least listen for a moment. But not for long and it better be good.

Which leads me to…

The Good Samaritan.

Not the best episode in Seinfeld history, but still a memorable one from the third season.

Anyway, there’s a couple of very good lines in the episode that deal with speech. More specifically the lack thereof.

The first, spoken by George: “I am speechless. Speechless! I have no speech!”

And the second, spoken by Elaine: “I am speechless! “I have no speech!”

Which leads me to…

Kentucky.

For the first time since 1986 the Kentucky Wildcats beat the Florida Gators.

It also means that we, errrr I, took a loss in the latest SEC Pick of the Week. We’re now 1-1 on the year and 26-16 overall since 2015.

Which leads me to…

Week three…

SEC Pick of the Week: North Texas at Arkansas (-7), 4:00pm ET on SECN.

I’m not 100-percent sure – I’m lazy and it is six o’clock in the morning so I’m not going to go back and look – but I believe this is the first time I’ve thrown the Razorbacks in this spot.

And it wasn’t easy either. I’m thinking Missouri and Purdue would make just as easy of a call. Let’s face it, the SEC is so much better than the Big 10 that I really find it hard to fathom that people still watch it.

Like Illionis vs. Northwestern, really? Yeah, that’s exciting. Iowa vs. Wisconsin, haha, okay, the wave to the children’s hospital is beyond cool but really, Iowa still has a team?

Michigan vs. Ohio State is ablut the only game up that way I can stomach but that’s only because I have a lot of Michigan in my family. So in that game, Go Blue.

And I can’t stand Urban Meyer. Never could. Even when he was winning us national championships.

But I digress, woo pig sooie in a rout.

Upset alert: Vanderbilt at No. 8 Notre Dame (-13 1/2), 2:30pm ET on NBC.

Just because.

Keep an eye on: No. 12 LSU at No. 7 Auburn (-10), 3:30pm ET on CBS.

If only because this is by far the marquee conference game of the week.

I have a feeling that this is where LSU’s season begins to unravel.

Trending up: Georgia.

Let me clarify: Heading into the year I didn’t really think they were going to be all that good.

By good I mean winning 12-13 games and the conference. Yeah, they just might. They are a really good football team.

Like, really good.

Trending down: SEC East.

Aside from the Georgia Bulldogs, yup, this divison looks like garbage. Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee all look like they have major issues.

Kentucky may finish second in the East. Maybe. It’s still fairly early though, so can I reserve the right to change my mind?
