The CBB Daily Dunkle – 1/15/2018

Hey Guys,

My name is John Apricena, and I go by uncl3dunkl3 on Twitter. I’ve been a long time sports handicapper for various sports and I’m here to share my insights and picks with the Saturday Edge for College Basketball. Feel free to follow me, as I give out free picks in various sports daily. Today’s game, that I like is Bucknell -4 vs. Colgate.

I love targeting non Power 5 conference games in CBB, as these lines tend to have more of an edge than standard Power 5 match-ups. In this game, you have Bucknell traveling to Colgate where both teams on paper look evenly matched, but when you look deeper you’ll notice Bucknell is the far better team. Kenpom has Bucknell ranked at 115 and Colgate at 218. Teamrankings shows Bucknell’s SOS at 79, and Colgate’s SOS at 226. While these two team have similar records and this game will be played at Colgate, there is clearly a talent discrepancy between these two teams which will shine through tonight in favor of Bucknell. If you have any fear of the home court advantage, this will be played at Cotterell Court which is sized like a high school court. Fear not for crowd noise, but they are offering free Moes to the first 75 students who show, so you can bet there will be at-least 75 pikers in the stands.

Colgate has been playing YMCA squads while Bucknell has been playing quality teams, so don’t let the similar records fool you here. Bucknell scores more, rebounds better, shoots a higher fg%, and has the best player on the court in Zach Thomas, all while playing far more superior competition than Colgate to date. I have this line a few more point in favor of Bucknell so I’ll lay the 4 here.

755 Bucknell -4
