College & NFL MNF Picks
GEORGIA TECH -2.5
I liked Notre Dame last week vs UVA but I will be fading them this week. Notre Dame will have to start DeShone Fizer at QB who just isn’t at the same talent level as Zaire and doesn’t have near the mobility. The loss of Zaire and Folston will just be too much for the Irish to overcome vs the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech runs an outstanding triple option behind quarterback Justin Thomas who can also beat you with his arm. The Irish have proven to give up a lot of points vs the triple option as Navy hasn’t had any trouble scoring on them over the past couple of seasons. Georgia Tech is also converting on 3rd down at a high percentage this season which will keep the offense on the field. Prediction Georgia Tech 37 Notre Dame 27
INDIANAPOLIS -7
The Indy Colts face the New York Jets in their season opener. The Jets are coming off a 31-10 win over the Browns in week 1 while the Colts took a 13 point loss to the Bills on the road. The Colts are known for getting off to a slow start to the season as they have lost 5 of their last 6 season openers with all losses coming on the road. It’s easy to want to overreact to week 1 here and jump on the Jets getting the points but I think the Colts will cover in this game. The Jets will likely be without CB Antonio Cromartie due to a knee injury. This will give Colts’ QB Andrew Luck a little more breathing room in the passing attack. The Colts are 18-3 ATS in their last 21 games following an ATS loss plus 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Monday games. The Jets are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 September games. Take the Colts!
