March Madness Day 7 – March 28th, 2015

Overall Record: 22-17

Tournament Record: 12-4

The Elite Eight match ups are set. Went 4-0 throughout the Sweet Sixteen and have now hit 11 of my last 12 picks in this tournament, with the one loss being a missed FT at the end of the game to miss a cover by .5 point. However, tonight’s Elite Eight has some very interesting match ups, and I believe one of them should be easy money.

Wisconsin (+1) vs. Arizona: I must admit, I have the Badgers making it all the way to my Championship game this year. However, what is not to like about this team? They can shoot the ball well, they don’t turn it over a lot, and they don’t commit a lot of fouls on defense. Traveon Jackson made his return in their Sweet Sixteen match up vs. UNC and had an impact after sitting on the bench since January 11th, and that just makes this team even more likable late in the tournament. Arizona narrowly escaped Xavier in their Sweet Sixteen game, and a couple of weaknesses were exposed in that game including their poor shooting outside the paint and also their questionable post defense. This is a Wildcat team with a lot of size, so it is somewhat surprising that they were unable to handle Matt Stainbrook and Jalen Reynolds, and they will have a much more difficult time trying to defend against Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker in tonight’s game. I’m pretty surprised that Wisconsin is the underdog in this one, despite such a small spread, but I think they’ve shown consistency all year long and that is one of the things that Arizona has lacked. You know that if Wisconsin has a lead with 5 minutes to go, they will usually win the game and I think they will do enough today to move into the Final Four. Expect a close game that sees Kaminsky and the Badgers pull away late to seal the win.
