College Hoops Picks – February 10th, 2015

YTD: 4-7

Seton Hall (+3) vs. Georgetown

Seton Hall has struggled in the last few weeks, posting a miserable 2-5 record in their last 7 games. That said, I am shocked to see that they’re underdogs in this one. Seton Hall features two fantastic guards in Sterling Gibbs and Isaiah Whitehead that will be tough for Georgetown’s defense to match up with. With Angel Delgado crashing the boards and protecting the paint, Georgetown’s Josh Smith will have to work every possession, which should limit his minutes and keep him from having a major impact on the game. Both of these teams need a win here tonight to build up their NCAA Tournament resume and conference tournament seeding, but the home crowd for Seton Hall gives them an edge in this game. Look for Seton Hall to get Whitehead, who recently returned from injury, into the game early to get the crowd going and boost his confidence after a sub-par performance against Marquette last time out. Seton Hall will be tested at home, but they are simply a better team when they have Whitehead in the lineup, and with 5 players averaging at least 9 PPG, Georgetown will not be able to control their offense with the home court advantage. It should be a close game, but we like Seton Hall to win outright in this one and get their Big East record back to the all important .500 mark.
