College Football Notes – 02.06.15

A lot of good post-recruiting info out there yesterday and today.

If any of you guys have any great CFB articles to share, please post them in the comments section below. Thx.

RECRUITING WRAP-UP

True Composite Recruiting Ranks & Stats

Devils and Nittany Lions killed it this recruiting cycle. Both schools up ~20 points above their average 4-year class rank. On the other side of things, Michigan was down HUGE (-27.75). SO much for the Harbaugh effect.

Signing Day Wrap with Matt Hinton

Excellent in-depth review. Despite a great signing day for ASU, the bad news for the Devils is that USC (#1 or #2) and UCLA (#7) both had spectacular days too.

For a 5th year in a row, Alabama had the number 1 composite class according to 247’s composite rankings. The Tide will feature at least one 5-star recruit at every position group next season except the interior offensive line.

GoSooners sent me this one. David Ubben breaks down the recruiting classes of each Big 12 school and he also lists a few “immediate impact” players. Big surprise, Texas had the highest ranked class in the conference.

Don’t deny climate change: Recruiting rankings matter

Another one from GoSooners, including his thoughts here – Great article. I’ve been preaching recruiting rankings for years. And I’ve even handicapped games based on recruiting rankings. Ohio State/Oregon was a perfect example of recruiting differential. I wish I could pound this into people’s heads. But many still refuse to believe that recruiting rankings matter that much.

Nobody gets more bang for their buck on the recruiting trail than Wisconsin

Good read about how teams have fared compared to their recruiting. Last year, no team with less did more than Georgia Tech.

Spring 2015

Ex-Houston QB John O’Korn says he’s UM-bound

The day after the national signing period ended, Michigan actually got some good news, as ex-Houston QB John O’Korn & Stanford CB Wayne Lyons (7 starts at Stanford last year) appear to be bound for Ann Arbor. Lyons would be eligible to play this season.

Duke starts spring practice TODAY!

And so it (spring practices) begins. David Cutcliffe must replace Anthony Boone at quarterback. Redshirt junior Thomas Sirk, who threw only 14 passes in 2014, gets first crack at the starting job.

Pac-12 2015 spring burning questions

Biggest questions for each team entering spring practice.
