2014 SEC Power Rankings – Week Thirteen

SEC EAST

1. Missouri (8-2, 5-1 SEC)The Tigers crept closer to the SEC East title last weekend with their 34-27 victory over Texas A&M. They’ve got two tricky games remaining before they can celebrate. They’ll be on upset watch this weekend.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd at Tennessee.

2. Georgia (8-2, 6-2 SEC)The Bulldogs finished up SEC play by beating up on Auburn and now can zero in on a ten-win season and hope Missouri loses one of their remaining two games.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Charleston Southern.

3. South Carolina (5-5, 3-5 SEC)The Gamecocks were on the receiving end of some luck last weekend against the Gators in their overtime win. Or was it just bad play in the last five minutes?

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against South Alabama.

4. Tennessee (5-5, 2-4 SEC)The Volunteers beat a reeling Kentucky team over the weekend and now can ruin Missouri’s SEC title hopes.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Missouri.

5. Florida (5-4, 4-4 SEC)The Gators fell apart late against South Carolina last weekend and whether right or wrong, it cost head coach Will Muschamp his job. They should get bowl eligible this weekend.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Eastern Kentucky.

6. Kentucky (5-6, 2-6 SEC)The Wildcats’ abysmal second half of the season continued last weekend as the Volunteers handled the Wildcats 50-16. It’ll now take a victory in two weeks over their rival Louisville for the Wildcats to reach a bowl.

Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Louisville.

7. Vanderbilt (3-7, 0-6 SEC)The Commodores are coming off a bye and will continue their search for a conference win against Mississippi State.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd at Mississippi State.

SEC WEST

1. Alabama (9-1, 6-1 SEC)The Crimson Tide reclaimed their spot at the top of the SEC by handing Mississippi State their first loss of the season. The Tide will get their 10th win of the season this weekend and then can focus on Auburn.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Western Carolina.

2. Mississippi State (9-1, 5-1 SEC)The Bulldogs will have to regroup after being handed their first loss and Vanderbilt is the perfect opponent to accomplish that.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Vanderbilt.

3. Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC)The Rebels are back in action this weekend after a bye week and now face a tricky Arkansas team this weekend who just finally ended a long SEC losing streak.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd at Arkansas.

4. Auburn (7-3, 4-3 SEC)The Tigers got stomped by Georgia last weekend and while things should improve this weekend, the Alabama game in two weeks looms large.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Samford.

5. Texas A&M (7-4, 3-4 SEC)The Aggies took one the chin last weekend and now must wait a week before they can attempt to end their season on high note.

Next game: Thursday, November 27th against LSU.

6. LSU (7-4, 3-4 SEC)The Tigers were shutout by Arkansas 17-0 and appear to be falling fast. This surely isn’t the season that everybody thought they’d be having.

Next game: Thursday, November 27th at Texas A&M.

7. Arkansas (5-5, 1-5 SEC)The Razorbacks finally got that first SEC win since late 2012 and they’ll look to use that momentum to knock off a top SEC team.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd against Ole Miss.
