2014 SEC Power Rankings – Week Ten
SEC EAST
1. Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) – The Bulldogs will be without Todd Gurley for a couple more games with his suspension appeal recently being denied. Luckily for the Bulldogs though, the next two are against Florida and Kentucky.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Florida in Jacksonville.
2. Missouri (6-2, 3-1 SEC) – The Tigers barely got past Vanderbilt last week and remain No. 2 in a very weak SEC East. They should win this weekend too, but it’s not a given.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Kentucky.
3. Kentucky (5-3, 2-3 SEC) – The Wildcats have struggled the past two weeks but I think everybody will agree in that we all knew it was coming. They can get back on track this weekend.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st at Missouri.
4. South Carolina (4-4, 2-4 SEC) – The Gamecocks hung in with Auburn last week but ended things a touchdown short. They should have no problem getting back into the win column this weekend.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Tennessee.
5. Florida (3-3, 2-3 SEC) – The Gators are in a must win scenario this weekend as a loss puts them mathematically out of contention in the East. Having said that, has Will Muschamp settled on a moving company yet?
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Georgia in Jacksonville.
6. Tennessee (3-5, 0-4 SEC) – The Volunteers played a very respectable game against the Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend but lost 34-20. Also, they may have just found their quarterback of the future in Joshua Dobbs.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st at South Carolina.
7. Vanderbilt (2-6, 0-5 SEC) – The Commodores are one loss away from being eliminated from postseason play. That loss probably won’t come this weekend, but it will happen either on the 8th or the 22nd of November for sure.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Old Dominion.
SEC WEST
1. Mississippi State (7-0, 4-0 SEC) – The Bulldogs are the last unbeaten team the SEC and I’d be willing to bet that nobody saw that coming before the season started. They’ve got a very tricky game this weekend though.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Arkansas.
2. Ole Miss (7-1, 4-1 SEC) – The Rebels suffered their first loss of the season last weekend down in Baton Rouge, 10-7 in a game that was all about defense. We should see some more offense this weekend as Auburn comes to town.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against Auburn.
3. Auburn (6-1, 3-1 SEC) – After barley getting past South Carolina last weekend, the Tigers’ SEC hopes are on the line this week as they travel to the biggest game of their season thus far.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st at Ole Miss.
4. Alabama (7-1, 4-1 SEC) – The Crimson Tide are off this week as they prepare for a trip to Baton Rouge. After an up and down performance against Tennessee last week, this bye comes at a perfect time.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th at LSU.
5. LSU (7-2, 3-2 SEC) –The Tigers are off this weekend as well and they’re coming off their biggest win of the season. I’m sure they’d rather play now than wait a week.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Alabama.
6. Texas A&M (5-3, 2-3 SEC) – The Aggies are beginning to find out what life is like in the SEC. It’s too bad that they’re on what amounts to pretty much a bye this week.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st against UL-Monroe.
7. Arkansas (4-4, 0-4 SEC) – The Razorbacks got a victory last week rather easily against UAB but they’re back in the SEC this week as they continue to look for their first conference win in a long time.
Next game: Saturday, November 1st at Mississippi State.
