Jimmy Singh College Football Week 2
Great opening weekend!
Went 4-2 up $522 for the week. I think that is a good start. The 3 main plays with write-ups won rather easily. Texas A&M team total was cashed before 1st half. ULM had to overcome a punt block but Wake did not move the ball at all and California won straight up as 11 point underdogs. One of the add Tennessee won by 31 as 3 point favourites. All the sharp money was actually on Utah St but I believe in my capping skills and they came through here easily.
NOTE: College Football lines for the following week are up at 5dimes usually by Sunday Evening. I play ALOT of openers. These are lines that aren’t beaten into shape by bettors yet and I like to take advantage of them. Please follow my twitter account @jimmysingh9 to get those plays as it is easier to tweet them out instead of writing them out here. I do not tweet out 50 tweets a day so you dont have to worry about getting annoyed by twitter account. I will also release some plays mid-week and during gameday if some lines move in the # I desire. PLEASE FOLLOW MY TWITTER BECAUSE EACH LINE HAS MOVED IN ADVANTAGE OF OUR LINES BY A MINIMUM OF 2 POINTS.
On to Week 2
Western Kentucky +7 at Illinois – risking $321 to win $300
I liked this bet when I first saw it. WKU was very impressive dismantling Bowling Green in their home opener while Illinois squeaked by Youngstown St in their home opener. WKU offense will be the best unit on the field by a margin. The Illini did a good job in week 1 vs the run but WKU isn’t looking to run much and Illini defensive backfield will get tested here. The Illini will also face more tempo here which will be a test. On the other side of the ball, I can see the Illini scoring some points but I dont think they will be able to keep up with WKU. The Illini gained 78 yards on 22 carries against an FCS team. Not exactly a good indicator of a good offensive line. The way I see this game playing out is WKU being able to move the ball vs the Illini D. I do think the Illini D will do a better job than BG did in week 1 and slow down WKU a little bit. I also see the Illini moving the ball a bit vs WKU but with less success than the other side of the ball and I can see WKU pulling out a W here on the road.
Kentucky -9.5 vs Ohio – risking $321 to win $300
Two teams that came out winners in Week 1 but in different fashion. Kentucky was dominant in beating their FCS opponent while Ohio played a stinker and squeaked out a road win at Kent St. Also a road win at Kent St isn’t too different than winning at home/neutral. The home edge isn’t much. Kentucky is a team on the uptrend and I will not talk about them alot here because we have a couple of other writers on the site that will tell you all you need to know about the Wildcats. I wasn’t impressed with Ohio in Week 1. I believe this is a team in the downtrend and should be a middle to lower tier MAC school this year. MAC schools also have not looked good out of conference and going on the actual road in a stadium with more than 15K fans should be tough for Ohio. I feel like Kentucky has an edge on both sides of the ball and while it could be close to start, I see Kentucky pulling away late and winning it easy.
Miami(Ohio) +3.5 vs Eastern Kentucky – risking $228 to win $200
This one stuck out at me when I first saw it. EKU is an average FCS School. I will get worried when a lower FBS school is facing a FCS power like NDSt at Iowa St. but Eastern Kentucky isn’t a juggernaut. We can say the same for Miami Ohio. They haven’t won a game in their last 17 so too many people aren’t exactly going to the ticket booth to back them. However, I saw alot of good things from Miami in their opening game loss to Marshall. First and foremost, they have their best QB since Big Ben in Andrew Hendrix. Hendrix transferred from Notre Dame and was a highly touted recruit. This is one of the highest recruits at QB that Miami has ever had. What made it even better is his OC from Notre Dame is the Miami coach, so Hendrix knows the system he is running and it showed vs Marshall. In addition, I liked the maturity that the returning guys from Miami brought and they should be due for a couple of wins this year and them being home dogs to an average FCS team is value to me.
