Guys, thanks for putting in the time on the podcasts, I really enjoy hearing and seeing other capper’s perspectives and how they cap games.
Sabert, I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on handicapping football. We have some similarities, and we have some differences, but we have in common is a love for the game and a willingness to put in the work to get a good end result.
Being a counselor in life, I tend to lean more towards the “situational” side of handicapping games. I follow the numbers and know the “x’s and O’s” of the game, but I believe there is a psychological edge in some games that gives us some good situations. Sometimes these edges are based solely on the athletic advantages one team’s players have over another. Sometimes it is the “revenge” edge that I think gets largely overused in handicapping, but is certainly legit in spots. Sometimes, though, it is just a good “letdown” spot, or “bounce back” spot for a team. Barry Switzer used to admit that you can only get a team of players truly motivated maybe 4 or 5 games out of the year, I try to find those 4 or 5 games, or find the games where the team is going to “letdown.”
There are some guys that are “trend” players. I probably use trends less in my handicapping than any other handicapping tool.
Not all handicappers are alike, but all have some things in common. The bottom line is success. Handicappers on this site have showed a great deal of success over the past year. Keep it up!
