2013 Florida Spring Preview
Despite an uninspired loss to Louisville in the Sugar Bowl, Florida turned in a solid 11-2 season in 2012 and narrowly missed playing in the SEC Championship game. Helping us with our 2013 Florida spring preview is Nolan Mucciarone of the Florida Gator website Alligator Army.

Pez, good assessments here.
As a Gator fan and follower, I agree that QB play will be a key. Driskel needs to make progress, plain and simple. Sure, he needs help from his WR’s and OL. However, 148 ypg isn’t going to cut it. His TD to INT ratio isn’t bad, but I’d like to see him average 2+ TD’s per game….The OL, I feel, is going to be a team strength. Two transfers: Max Garcia (Maryland) and Tyler Moore (Nebraska) have starting experience and look to be in the mix for starting positions. Add in big JUCO transfer Trenton Brown (6’8 350) to go along w/ 3 returning starters, I think the OL will be better this year….The DL has 2 JUCO DT’s coming in and returns Ronald Powell (a starter in 2011, missed all of 2012). So they just need to build depth….I’m more worried about the TE’s & WR’s than any position group. They need to step up. There’s plenty of bodies, but can they perform? Also, replacing an All-American Kicker is often overlooked.
Thanks for the insight Coach CB. Good stuff. I agree that Driskel (and the passing game) has got to get better this year, especially w/ the RB position being more of a question mark.
Here’s a good piece on Driskel: https://www.gatorsports.com/article/20130320/ARTICLES/130329982/1090/gatorsfootball?p=2&tc=pg
