And one that may not be equaled for some time. The Tide’s number one goal is to search out, evaluate, and recruit only athletes who fit Nick Saban’s style of football.

MAXIMIZE YOUR EDGE
Lance Thompson from Alabama called my son’s high school coach back in December. My son’s coach said that he and Mr. Thompson spoke for a half hour about my son. My son is currently a sophomore. What can I deduce from this?
Steve, I’m not sure exactly what you can deduce from it unless you know the nature of the conversation between Thompson and the highschool coach. Obviously they are interested in some capacity in your son. So it’s nice to know that they at least have their eye on him. We all know that Bama likes to start early with these kids and follow their highschool careers. And in some cases are willing to take the early gamble on a kid. I just saw where they offered 8th grader Dylan Moses (Class of 2017) a scholarship! I know the kid looks like he’s going to be special, but it seems a little out of the norm for Bama to go after a kid this early. Right now I say congrats to the kid for hitting puberty faster than everybody else, but what if he doesn’t grow another inch? This is probably the exception much more than the rule with Saban. He usually likes to take the slow more delibarate route, as he is with making early contacts about your son. At this point Thompson could be inquiring more about what kind of kid your son is, his grades etc. That’s just my guess. I wish him the best of luck. For a school like Bama to even be inquiring about him, he sounds like a good prospect.

Your welcome Gegenstaende. When Saban came to Bama he definitely had a plan in mind for recruiting and has stuck to his guns. What is amazing is how long other teams have stood by so long and let it happen. Schools like FSU and Clemson are finally starting to come around and implement his recruiting methods. And it’s paying off for them, especially for Clemson the last couple of years.
