2019 SEC Pick of the Week – Week Eleven

For the first time in three years I picked the Tennessee Volunteers to win the game of the week and for what I believe is the first time ever, maybe second (read: probably second or third, but it sure doesn’t seem like it) they actually won.

And covered the spread.

The Vols took down UAB 30-7, covering the 12-point spread and we improved to 7-6 on the year as a result.

It’s just a shame that the Gators played what seemed like their worst game of the year against Georgia and the refs to ruin a pretty decent weekend.

But hey, we’re moving on.

Week eleven…

SEC Pick of the Week: No. 2 LSU at No. 3 Alabama (-6), 3:30pm ET on CBS.

We didn’t profile the biggest game of the week last week because there was an easier game to call – and there probably is this week too, but in all seriousness this is the game that everybody wants to talk about so I’ll oblige.

Is Tua Tagovailoa going to play? Probably.

Will the be the Tua we’ve come to expect? I don’t know.

Will this game break from the series norm and be a high scoring affair? Possibly.

Either way, I’m not quite ready to go with the Tigers. Yet.

I’ve just got to see more. Sure their win over my Gators was nice, but I think that just like Georgia if the Gators were to get another shot at them they would win.

I don’t feel that way about Alabama.

Roll Tide Roll.

Upset alert: Western Kentucky at Arkansas (-1), 12:00pm ET on SECN.

The only thing interesting about this game is that the Razorbacks will be starting Jerry Jones’ grandson at quarterback.

I feel bad for the Hogs too. Arkansas is a winnable place. The state has a fairly good amount of talent and recruiting in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas isn’t out of the question.

But this is where they are.

Keep an eye on: Tennessee at Kentucky (-1.5), 7:30pm ET on SECN.

The Volunteers are playing some surprisingly good football as of late (see below) and the Wildcats, well, they’ve got a wide receiver playing quarterback and a head coach being linked to one of the better jobs in all of football.

The thing is though, Mark Stoops has beaten the Vols before by throwing a wide receiver in at QB and Kroger Field is not that easy of a place to play.

But watch, Tennessee probably smokes them.

Trending up: Tennessee.

Since the loss to Alabama in which the Vols played better than expected, they’ve beaten up on South Carolina and UAB. The week before Alabama they beat Mississippi State.

Dare I say they have turned the corner with Jeremy Pruitt?

Trending down: Chad Morris.

He gone.

And it’s a shame really.
