2019 SEC Football Pick of the Week – Week One
In what was quite possibly the longest off-season ever, even though my Florida Gators played a week earlier than usual (1-0, baby!) this year just seemed to drag on.
But hey, it’s back and as a result, we’re back! I do want to apologise for the lack of preview posts leading up to this weekend though. I am sorry.
So let’s just jump in, shall we?
Week one…
SEC Pick of the Week: Ole Miss at Memphis (-4.5) at 12:00pm ET on ABC.
Well, if you like offense this is probably the game to watch, though there are a few people, and I mean a few people, who think the Rebels might have a top-75 defense at the end of the year.
While that remains to be seen and I’m skeptical, this game probably won’t help.
I think the Rebels win by a couple of touchdowns. Give me 50-something to 30-something. Or, you know, 60-40.
Upset Alert: No. 11 Oregon vs. No. 16 Auburn (-3.5) in Arlington, Texas at 7:30pm ET on ABC.
I’m a big fan of the Oregon Ducks at this time. I think they’ll have a pretty decent year. In this battle though, they’ll go up against desperate team with an NFL-level defense and an exciting freshman quarterback in Bo Nix.
Not to say the Ducks don’t have a pretty decent quarterback of their own in Justin Herbert.
This could be close, or not, but if it’s close give me Auburn to win by a late field goal.
Keep an eye on: No. 3 Georgia at Vanderbilt (-21) at 7:30pm ET on ESPN.
I do not think the Commodores win this game. In fact, they’ll probably lose big. But, it’s the opening game for both teams (obviously) and sometimes you just never know.
Having said that, watch, the Bulldogs probably win this by 50.
Trending up/down: We’ll get a little more into this as the season goes on, but for now we’ve just got national championship and/or bowl aspirations and a ridiculously good Gators defense. So take all that for what you will.

Could you be more clear on who you are betting on? Other than Mississippi, I have no idea who you took in the other games.
Technically I’m only picking the game or two games of the week, unless noted, and the other games are more of a “just for thought” type of deal with my thoughts. But yeah, I gotcha.
