Razors MLB 09/04/2018

As things start to come down to the wire, we have an interesting bunch of series that began on Labor Day yesterday.

While Tuesday is usually game one for many teams coming off the weekend, this time around will be game two for everyone after a full card was played yesterday. Over the past few days, a lot of things were starting to become apparent. Most significant was the pressure on a lot of playoff bubble teams to generate runs.

Yesterday, we saw the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers both fail miserably in trying to one up each other for the division title race, as both squads lost to basement dwellers in the standings. That was not the only example, as the Philadelphia Phillies also lost to the bottom feeding Miami Marlins, despite hanging on the dear life in the Wild card chase. We also saw the Seattle Mariners, who are also hanging on by a thread, beat the lowly Baltimore Orioles by just a single run in a very low scoring game. In fact, the only team in a high pressure situation that was able to tack on the runs was the Colorado Rockies…and their stadium’s hitter friendly conditions may have had a lot to do with the result.

With these series’ continuing, don’t expect things to get any easier for the hitters. Also in the mix, are a couple significant matchups between contenders. Such as: Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees @ Oakland Athletics.

Today, we are also seeing higher air density indexes due to cooler weather, as there are only three games going on tonight in below 60 ADI. Apart from Colorado, the other two games being played in Arizona and Texas are also seeing cooler temperatures, and higher than usual ADI’s at 59.

With a combination of more stable weather, five dome settings, three west coast games, coupled in with the high pressure and tight races, expect the implosions to be minimal today. With 8.76 runs per game to spare, I feel that is plenty to work with, and I expect most games to remain stale today.
