Lamar is laying a small number here in the conference opener and I really like them. Two fairly evenly matched teams, but in these tourney match-ups, I’m always look for a few specific things. I want the better defense, I want more experience, and I want the neutral court to favor the team I’m selecting. Now, sometimes all these boxes don’t check off, but when they do there is additional value that I’ll gladly take. Lamar plays better defense, has PLENTY more experience, and the neutral court is less than two hours from their college. Central Arkansans beat Lamar in double OT in Lamar’s gym earlier this year and are winners of three straight, but the things I mentioned above come back to bite teams like Central Arkansas in these conference tournaments. Expect Lamar to force plenty of turnovers, use their edge on the glass and ride the slight crowd advantage towards a win tonight.
