just speculating – WKU may not be a bunny for UK.

Thanks for the comment marv. I think you could be right. WKU played them tough last year and still look to have a pretty decent defense returning (by Sun Belt standards). But I think the loss of RB Bobby Rainey is going to really hurt the offense.

UK gets them at home, so this will probably be one of the only games all season where the Wildcats will be favored (Kent St being the other).

I’m not taking it as the gospel truth, but some of the SEC people that I’ve talked to says Joker Phillips is not the man for the job, and probably won’t be there after this season. Consider UK’s wins last year, WKU, Central Michigan, Jacksonville St., Ole Miss, and somehow they managed to beat Tennessee in their last game. But the Vols didn’t have a winning record either. Until they beat a BCS team with a winning record, I think Phillips is going to be on a very hot seat. I get the feeling the farther they get from the Rich Brooks legacy, the worse they are going to get.

Joker Phillips is definitely on the coaches’ hot list. My only question is this — realistically, how good is Kentucky ever going to be able to do in this conference? Kentucky is just a basketball school, pure and simple, and that will never change. The ACC would be a better conference for them in everything except money. And, THAT, is the bottomline as to why they are in the SEC. I don’t care who they get as Head Coach, they are never going to be good in this conference for long term.
