Why should you subscribe to a sports handicapping service?

With the college football & NFL season quickly approaching, I have begun to receive several emails asking more or less the same annual question, “Why should I purchase a subscription to The Daily Sports Edge?”

So I sent an email to all our Lifetime Subscribers asking them why they subscribe to The Daily Sports Edge.

It’s The Information, Stupid!

Not surprisingly, the majority of responses came down to “It’s the INFORMATION” … I just tossed the stupid part in as emphasis. Providing everyone with exceptional information and game analyses has come to define The Daily Sports Edge.

“What makes your site so special is the information and game analysis that you all provide.”

“I’ve subscribed to your service from day one and it is obvious that you guys put in the work. I have come to expect great information and analysis week in and week out.”

“Solid analysis and reasoning for your picks is the most valuable service you provide me.”

“While I appreciate the picks each week, I value the information I receive more.”

Sure our College Football (and NFL) win/loss record is exceptional …. over 55% on more than 2,500 wagers over the past 7 years. But the information & analysis we provide is and always will be the biggest asset & value we give our subscribers.

The Three Main Reasons to Consider a Sports Handicapping Service

So, the short answer to the question of “Why should I subscribe to The Daily Sports Edge” is INFORMATION, and that information is usually utilized in one of three ways.

1). Time (or lack thereof)

Some people who enjoy betting on sports just don’t have the time or inclination to devote to gathering all the necessary information required to make an informed decision on what games to wager on.

They have full-time jobs, families and/or other things to do instead of sifting through all the relevant team news on coaches, players, injuries, off-field transgressions, trends and stats available on a weekly basis.

This rationale alone is a perfect reason to use a solid & reputable sports handicapping service.

“I researched and tried to handicap sports by myself, but obviously it is extremely time consuming and with my busy work schedule its hard to dedicate the amount of time it requires. The information and game analysis you guys provide has allowed me to invest some money in the sports betting market and turn it into a profitable venture.”

2). Knowledge & Experience

Like any endeavor in life, it takes a lot of knowledge and experience to become skillful at sports handicapping.

Do you understand probability theory, basic statistical analysis, line movement, money & risk management?

Do you understand game specific situational spots, match-ups, power ratings and specific handicapping strategies?

If the answer is “no” and/or “not yet” to any of these questions, that is another excellent reason to consider using a good sports handicapping service.

3). Confirmation (or Contradiction)

This reason is for the “Do it yourself” handicappers. These are the guys that more or less handicap their own games and they are looking for as much information, analysis and insight that they can find.

These are the guys that want us to handicap and provide detailed write-ups for as many games as possible so they can pick and choose the games they are interested in betting on.

“I think many, including myself, subscribe to your service to either confirm our thoughts about making a wager on a particular team or it causes us to give more thought if one of you is picking the other team.”

It can make sense to get a second opinion from someone else you trust, picking up on something you might have missed.

I personally don’t purchase picks per se, but I do spend a lot of money each year purchasing information, and some of that information does include the occasional pick. And I pass along most of this information to our subscribers, albeit in a condensed/edited version.

CONCLUSION

If you fall into any of these three categories as a sports bettor/handicapper, paying for the time (information & analysis), knowledge and experience of a solid and reputable sports handicapping service can certainly be worth the investment.

However, before doing so, make sure you are comfortable with the people/service you are dealing with. Make sure you’ve done your homework and are satisfied you are dealing with a reputable group or individual, and lastly, have realistic expectations.

“What I hope to get out of your service is that it allows me to get to a 53% – 55% winning record, manage my bank roll so that I can continue to enjoy one of my favorite pass times without going broke, and see what others are thinking about regarding their football wagers.”

There are no guarantees. Hot handicappers are a dime a dozen in the Internet era. They come and go like winning streaks and losing streaks. Good sports handicappers think and perform long-term, which should be the goal of any sports investor.
