2014 SEC Power Rankings – Week Fourteen
SEC EAST
1. Missouri (9-2, 6-1 SEC) – The Tigers are one win away from winning the East but it’s a tricky one against a team they’d probably rather not play.
Next game: Friday, November 28th against Arkansas.
2. Georgia (9-2, 6-2 SEC) – The Bulldogs can only hope and pray that Missouri loses to Arkansas as they play their biggest in-state rival.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th against Georgia Tech.
3. South Carolina (6-5, 3-5 SEC) – The Gamecocks are only playing now to improve their bowl position. A win over Clemson isn’t a bad in their eyes either.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Clemson.
4. Florida (6-4, 4-4 SEC) – The Gators accomplished their goal of becoming bowl eligible last weekend and now face their biggest test yet. Can they knock off the Seminoles?
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Florida State.
5. Tennessee (5-6, 2-5 SEC) – The Volunteers are about where most people thought they’d be at this point. Since Butch Jones arrived, the main focus has always been 2015.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Vanderbilt.
6. Kentucky (5-6, 2-6 SEC) – The Wildcats will get there eventually, but not this year. A win over Louisville and they go bowling. But that’s going to be easier said than done.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Louisville.
7. Vanderbilt (3-8, 0-7 SEC) – It’ll take a victory over in-state rivals Tennessee to keep the Commodores from a winless 2014 SEC campaign. The odds aren’t in their favor at all.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th against Tennessee.
SEC WEST
1. Alabama (10-1, 6-1 SEC) – The Crimson Tide can clinch the SEC West with a victory on Saturday. But as we found out last year, strange things can happen.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th against Auburn.
2. Mississippi State (10-1, 6-1 SEC) – The Bulldogs are going to need a victory over Ole Miss and an Alabama loss to win the SEC West. It’s doable, but rather unlikely.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Ole Miss.
3. Auburn (8-3, 4-3 SEC) – Can the Tigers do it against Alabama again? I’m not so sure, but they can end the regular season on a high note despite a somewhat disappointing season.
Next game: Saturday, November 29th at Alabama.
4. Ole Miss (8-3, 4-3 SEC) – The Rebels can knock their in-state rivals out of both the SEC West and College Football’s Playoff races with a win on Saturday. How sweet would that be?
Next game: Saturday, November 29th against Mississippi State.
5. Texas A&M (7-4, 3-4 SEC) – Well, the Aggies aren’t playing Texas or Arkansas (who I think they should play at the end of the season), but Thursday against LSU will suffice. I think.
Next game: Thursday, November 27th against LSU.
6. LSU (7-4, 3-4 SEC) – The Tigers didn’t meet any of their expectations this year, but they can salvage some of it on Thanksgiving.
Next game: Thursday, November 27th at Texas A&M.
7. Arkansas (6-5, 2-5 SEC) – The Razorbacks have finally hit their stride, but it was too little too late. They can finish on a high note by ruining Missouri’s SEC hopes.
Next game: Friday, November 28th at Missouri.
