2014 SEC Power Rankings – Week Twelve

SEC EAST

1. Missouri (7-2, 4-1 SEC)The Tigers are still the odds on favorite to win the East because Florida and Georgia continue to have down years. They can’t clinch the division this weekend, but they can get close.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Texas A&M.

2. Georgia (7-2, 5-2 SEC)The Bulldogs have to win this weekend if they want a shot at the East. Why? Because a loss keeps the Gators involved and the Gators hold a key tiebreaker.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against Auburn.

3. Florida (5-3, 4-3 SEC)The Gators cruised past Vanderbilt last weekend to keep their slim SEC East hopes alive. They need to win this weekend and then get lots of help.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against South Carolina.

4. Kentucky (5-5, 2-5 SEC)The Wildcats have lost four straight after beginning the season 5-1. Can they hang on and make a bowl? Their best chance at win No. 6 is this weekend.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Tennessee.

5. Tennessee (4-5, 1-5 SEC)The Volunteers will close out the season with what is probably their three easiest conference games. Can they win two and become bowl eligible?

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against Kentucky.

6. South Carolina (4-5, 2-5 SEC)The Gamecocks are going to have to beat either Florida or Clemson to make a bowl this year. That’s probably not very favorable odds, right?

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Florida.

7. Vanderbilt (3-7, 0-7 SEC)The Commodores have had a rough go of things this year after a nice couple of years under James Franklin. They’re off this week before a chance to pull off a major upset awaits.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd at Mississippi State.

SEC WEST

1. Mississippi State (9-0, 5-0 SEC)The Bulldogs just keep rolling but they’ve got their biggest test of the season coming up on Saturday. Is this when people start taking the Bulldogs seriously?

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Alabama.

2. Alabama (8-1, 5-1 SEC)After a big win last weekend, the Crimson Tide have a chance to get back into the No. 1 spot. Luckily for the the Crimson Tide, this game is in Tuscaloosa.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against Mississippi State.

3. Auburn (7-2, 4-2 SEC)The Tigers suffered a bad loss last week against Texas A&M but they can get back on track this weekend against Georgia. They’re probably out of the West race though.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Georgia.

4. Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC)The Rebels got things rolling against Presbyterian last week and didn’t let up. They can’t afford to lose another game and have a tricky matchup coming up against Arkansas later this month.

Next game: Saturday, November 22nd at Arkansas.

5. LSU (7-3, 3-3 SEC)The Tigers came “oh-so close” to knocking off the Crimson Tide last Saturday but fell just short in overtime. It’s their turn to take on the Razorbacks.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Arkansas.

6. Texas A&M (7-3, 3-3 SEC)The Aggies may have found their quarterback moving forward in Kyle Allen. It’s a small sample size, but the early returns look promising.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against Missouri.

7. Arkansas (4-5, 0-5 SEC)The Razorbacks are still looking for that first conference win in more than two years and I’ve got a feeling that it’s going to happen soon. They’ve got three more chances this year to make it happen.

Next game: Saturday, November 15th against LSU.
