2014 SEC Power Rankings – Week Eleven
SEC EAST
1. Missouri (7-2, 4-1 SEC) – With all the traditional powers in the East having a down couple of years, the Tigers joined the SEC at the right time and are No. 1 by default. They’ll lose again before the season is over, maybe twice.
Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Texas A&M.
2. Georgia (6-2, 4-2 SEC) – The Bulldogs’ recent luck finally ran out against the Gators as they walked off the field defeated in every facet of the game. They can get back on track this weekend as they face a reeling Kentucky team.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th at Kentucky.
3. Florida (4-3, 3-3 SEC) – The Gators saved a lot of things last weekend by winning big over Georgia in Jacksonville. But was it too little, too late?
Next game: Saturday, November 8th at Vanderbilt.
4. Kentucky (5-4, 2-4 SEC) – The Wildcats have lost three straight and two of their remaining three games are on the road. Their best chance for that sixth win will be in Knoxville.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Georgia.
5. Tennessee (4-5, 1-4 SEC) – Anytime the Volunteers beat a Steve Spurrier coached team it has to feel good. Remember what I said last week about Joshua Dobbs? He masks their offensive line problems perfectly.
Next game: Saturday, November 15th against Kentucky.
6. South Carolina (4-5, 2-5 SEC) – The Gamecocks aren’t quite having the season we all thought they would be having. They better use their bye week to figure out how to win two of their final three games.
Next game: Saturday, November 15th at Florida.
7. Vanderbilt (3-6, 0-5 SEC) – The Commodores are coming off an easy win over Old Dominion and the Gators are waiting. It could be a long day in Nashville for the ‘Dores.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Florida.
SEC WEST
1. Mississippi State (8-0, 5-0 SEC) – The Bulldogs continue to roll, even though by all accounts they escaped with a win last week. They’re No. 1 until somebody beats them.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against UT-Martin.
2. Auburn (7-1, 4-1 SEC) – The Tigers took down Ole Miss and they’ll remain ahead of Alabama as a result. They’ve got a very winnable home game up next and should head into the Iron Bowl where they are.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Texas A&M.
3. Alabama (7-1, 4-1 SEC) – The Crimson Tide were off last week and had to watch their top rival take down one of the two darlings in the SEC this year. They can make some noise of their own this weekend though.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th at LSU.
4. Ole Miss (7-2, 3-2 SEC) – The Rebels’ “Landshark D” forgot how to swim last weekend against Auburn as they gave up over 500 yards and 35 points in their second loss of the season. They’ve got to have things go their way the rest of the season.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Presbyterian.
5. LSU (7-2, 3-2 SEC) – The Tigers are putting together a fairly nice the season and somehow they remain under the radar. That can all change on Saturday.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th against Alabama.
6. Texas A&M (6-3, 2-3 SEC) – The Aggies are in a mess of all different sorts. They barely get past UL-Monroe last weekend, their starting quarterback is suspended another game and they’ve lost their identity as a result. Things could get ugly this weekend.
Next game: Saturday, November 8th at Auburn.
7. Arkansas (4-5, 0-5 SEC) – The Razorbacks continue to look for that elusive SEC win as they’ve gone 0-17 in conference dating back to 2012. They’ll get another shot in two weeks against LSU.
Next game: Saturday, November 15th against LSU.

FWIW my own #s are:
Auburn
Ole Miss
Bama
Miss St
UGA
LSU
Arkansas
A&M
Mizzou
Florida
Vols
S Carolina
Kentucky
… (really big gap)
Vandy
I definitely think that UGA is the East’s #1 team even if they don’t win the division. Obviously up and down, but overall have had a higher level of play than Mizzou, even without Gurley.
In the West, my #s are clearly contrarian, but I’m not quite sure that Miss St is as good as most people think. UAB pushed them WAY too hard, and they far from dominated LSU, Kentucky and especially Arkansas. Even the Auburn game (best performance of the year by far) was largely swung by early fumble luck as opposed to the Bulldogs really being all that much better.
