Coming Up: Oct. 18th at Indiana- MSU is back in the Hoosier state for the second straight week, this time in the Battle for the Old Brass Spittoon. The Spartans should be able to roll as Indiana is starting a true freshman former linebacker at quarterback.

2. Ohio State 4-1 (1-0)Ohio State had an off week to prepare for Rutgers.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th vs. Rutgers- The Buckeyes go back-to-back with the new kids on the block. Playing at the Shoe OSU should be able to handle a feisty Rutgers squad.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th– at Ohio State- The Knights hit the road for the first time in the Big Ten and it will be a doozy. The Shoe is not an easy place to play. Can Gary Nova be good enough to expose the Buckeye secondary?

5. Penn State 4-2 (1-2)Penn State has hit dire straights after losing at Michigan. An open week will much needed before the Buckeyes invade Happy Valley

Coming Up: Oct. 18th– OPEN

6. Michigan 3-4 (1-2)Winning sure has quieted the critics for now. Michigan now has two weeks to gear up for the Spartans. One would think that is a must win for Hoke if he wants to stay in Ann Arbor.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th– OPEN

7. Indiana 3-3 (0-2)Indiana’s worst nightmare came true when it was announced Monday that Nate Sudfeld would miss the rest of the 2014 season as the result of a hit sustained in the 45-29 loss at Iowa.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th-vs. Michigan State- The Hoosiers are going to need an all-time great performance from the nation’s leading rusher Tevin Coleman to even have a chance at winning the Old Brass Spittoon for the first time since 2006.

West Division

1. Nebraska 5-1 (1-1)The Huskers had a week to lick their wounds and get ready for the Wildcats.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th– at Northwestern- Every year this game is a great one. Why should 2014 be any different? The Huskers have more talent but the game is in Evanston.

2. Minnesota 5-1 (2-0)A 100-yard kickoff return was the key in the Gophers’ victory last week against a pesky Northwestern team. Minnesota is right in the thick of the race in the West.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th The Gophers will have a great shot at 3-0 when the Boilermakers come into town.

Coming Up: Oct. 18th– at Minnesota- Can Purdue steal a win on the road? If they can slow down David Cobb they might.

7. Illinois 3-4 (0-3)Is this the week Illinois regroups or falls apart? An open week can fix a lot of problems, but it can also give players and coaches time to read what is being written and said about them on the web.

Coming Up: October 18th– OPEN
