For your consideration: Week # 9

Games for Your Radar…

If you’re feeling frustrated that you can’t find solid winners this week in college football, you’re not alone.  I can honestly say, there’s not one particular game that jumps out at me, but there are a few games that catch my eye.  So for this article, I’ll give you 5 games that are on my “like” list.  These games are in no particular order:

  • Hawaii:  For some reason (the obvious ones) teams have a hard time traveling to Hawaii and putting their best effort forward.  Colorado State is coming off an emotional rival win over Wyoming and the Warriors are off a bye week.  Although Hawaii has not won a game yet, they have been playing teams fairly tough at home and are 4-2 ATS.  My concern with this match-up is that I’m getting conflicting reports of where the public is leaning.  Most of you know by now, I don’t like betting with the public.
  • Virginia:  This game is damn close to my “best bet” of the week.  Virginia seems to be in a good spot.  They are playing back to back home games against a Georgia Tech team that won their previous game 56-0.  20% of public are on the Cavaliers (which I like) and this is a revenge game of last year’s score of 56-20.  Look for a motivated Caviler team.
  • Oregon State:  I’ve seen the Beavers twice now in person and I can tell you, first hand, this team is getting very good.  The best thing that happened to the Beavers was losing their first game to Eastern Washington University.  It has allowed them to slip under the radar and get some quality wins.  They host Stanford Saturday night and I believe the Cardinal could be looking ahead.  Stanford needs to be very careful this weekend.
  • UCLA:  Just like the Beavers the same holds true with the Bruins.  The Ducks will be looking ahead to revenge last year’s only loss to Stanford.  Without a doubt, UCLA has the better head coach.  Coming off a loss the Bruins will be well prepared.  Besides…the Ducks defensive coordinator is too busy bitching about Mike Leach and his WSU Cougars, playing hard and competitive all 4 quarters.  I guess that’s what you do now in Eugene.  Instead of “just do it”, you “just give up”…Don’t get me started about that idiot.
  • TCU:  The Frogs have won 31 of their last 36 home games.  Patterson does get the best out of his players when coming off a loss.  Texas is still a question mark in my mind.  They did have an impressive win over the Sooners, but this team still seems fickle to me.   TCU is receiving less than 20% of the public consensus…which is always good see.

So there it is…games that are on my radar for the weekend.  Take these notes and see if you can find additional information to support these plays.

Hawaii +3

Virginia +10

Oregon State +4

UCLA +23

TCU -2

Forty Six & 2
