BCS Title Hopes Rests Squarely on Quarterbacks

Okay,  so maybe the title is a little bit of an exaggeration but for sports fans who bet on the NFL and college football,  I will try to explain and show doubters why this statement is not as much of an exaggeration as you would imagine. As with NFL football betting, more often than not, the most likely MVP at the end of a season is usually a quarterback. This is not a coincidence. The importance of an excellent quarterback is fundamental to any college football team as he is often tasked with not only being the playmaker of these teams but also its captain. His teammates will look to him for inspiration when the chips are down and it requires a resilient and mentally strong person to lead the weight of expectation of his team and fans all the way to a championship.

In as much as college football betting shares some similarities with NFL football betting  there are also many other similarities. No team with a true freshman quarterback or NFL team with a rookie QB has ever led their team to a college or NFL football title. This cannot be dismissed as simply a case of mere coincidence. Just take a look at a player like Aaron Rogers for Green Bay to see how a player can improve over time. There is nothing like experience to help improve a player as the player can learn so much over the course of a season. This gives him something to draw upon at those times when he needs to pull something out of the bag. It only takes one look at the standings to see which teams have more experienced quarterbacks and are more successful. This is not to say that freshman quarterbacks are not talented or on the road to stardom, it is just that it is a difficult ask for a young quarterback to lead a team of his elders and get the respect that is needed from his teammates. It usually takes him a while to earn this respect.

One of the most fun aspects of college football for me is putting my money where my mouth is. A great place to look for college statistics and other important information is the official BCS website. Whilst NFL football odds may differ from that of college football I still find it fun to have a bet and watch the game. We at the Saturday Edge currently published a betting prospectus which maybe be able to help you win some money from your hobby – just make sure you are not betting on rookie quarterbacks!. There are times in college football betting, as compared to NFL odds, that shrewd players who diligently study handicapping and the prevailing college football odds manage to get great value from college football wagers. Not only is an NCAA football match a great game to watch, it is a great game to wager on.

Some of the greatest NFL betting or college betting is usually influenced by people with more knowledge than I. There are many great bits of advice and weekly reviews, such as this which can help you to make your bets more effective. Sometimes it is hard to find advice that is worth taking with many people on Facebook and Twitter having their say but the best advice I can give you is stick with your instincts.

Running backs, full backs, wide receivers, defensive ends, the list goes on and on of important players in a college football team. All of these players have an integral part to play in a successful season for their respective colleges but none of them have the influence that a quarterback has. A quarterback can single-handedly make or break a season for a college team. A bad game with a few interceptions or a great game with fantastic accuracy can be vital for a team to perform well. This is why, in my opinion, it is unlikely that the piece of trivia given before is ever going to be any different. A team, be it NFL or college, will have to be very lucky for any championships with a rookie at the helm picking the plays and motivating the team. After all, college football isn’t an episode of Friday Night Lights! Enjoy your wagering and your football and may you, and your team, be lucky!
