Yesterday we kicked off our PAC 12 football Q & A sessions by talking about the teams that could contend for the PAC 12 Division & Conference Championship. Today we will take a look at some of the unknown players in the conference who could become stars this season.

Joining us once again is Brad Denny of House of Sparky, Scott Chong of California Golden Blogs and AHMB of Bruins Nation.

[box] Question # 2: Name me a few unknown players that could become stars this season[/box]

Brad Denny – House of Sparky: It’s hard to think that 19 touchdowns can go under the radar, but ASU running back Marion Grice did just that. As part of a three-headed backfield attack, Grice emerged as the team’s best playmaker on the ground and in the air. Now the clear starter, Grice is in a position to become a star on the national stage.

I also think that Utah quarterback Travis Wilson could do some big things for the Utes. Utah was hit hard with some big departures and they may not be a bowl contender, but Wilson’s size and skills should be an effective fit with new OC Dennis Erickson.

Scott Chong – California Golden Blogs: For Cal, it would be Todd Barr (defensive end), Stefan McClure (cornerback), Richard Rodgers (TE/WR), and Daniel Lasco(RB).  Note that I’m omitting bigger names who aren’t so unknown such as Deandre Coleman, Nick Forbes, Brendan Bigelow, and Bryce Treggs.

AHMB – Bruins Nation: There are a few Bruins that should become household names this year.  On offense, quarterback Brett Hundley and guard Xavier Sua-Filo are two of the best at their position in the country, and linebacker Anthony Barr may be the best pass rushing linebacker in college football this year.

Two other names in the conference to keep an eye on are wide receiver Bryce Treggs of California and safety Shaq Thompson of Washington.  Both are sophomores and former 5* recruits and coming off productive freshman seasons.  Treggs could explode in Sonny Dykes’ offense, and Thompson may be the best safety in the conference this year.
